About Galabags

GalaBags was founded in 2020 by Gaz & Lara (GAzLAra), beginning with a single shipment of 100 handwoven bags from the original family and village in Java, Indonesia—where these bags were first created. What they discovered was something rare—authentic bags crafted by the original artisans, using traditional techniques passed down through generations.

Each bag begins as discarded plastic collected from beaches, streets, and waterways. It is transformed into durable strips, then handwoven into designs that have now been refined, strengthened, and over-engineered by GalaBags to create one of the most durable woven bags on earth.

What started with just 10 women has grown into a community of up to 100 artisans—creating exclusive, Australian-designed GalaBags.

More than just a product, every GalaBag represents opportunity, dignity, and a cleaner future—turning waste into something truly remarkable.

This isn’t mass production. This is GalaBags.
